The Legacy of a Parent’s Love

Dick and Rick Hoyt have been racing for many years…so you likely have seen pictures of them in Sports Illustrated or on YouTube or any number of places.  The pair race in all manner of races…road races to triathlons.

This video inspired me this morning…in a world that can have cruelty, where people can be nasty to each other…Dick and Rick find ways to appreciate and honor the other.  I so value how they work to build the other up…how in the pairing, each sees themselves as the fortunate one.

And I value how infectious their approach has become…they didn’t start a campaign to say that people of all abilities should race…they simply raced so compellingly that others have followed.

A lot of others.

And their story matters.  It inspires others…it has challenged another stay alive.

AT the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child

I value the commitment this dad has for his son…and how his son has grown in confidence, in humour, and is leading a life that is full…he did this on his own…but I have a feeling the belief that his dad had in him had a lot to do with it.
