TDC…It’s not so bad!

Roshonna Plett has been facilitating the anger management group…Transforming Destructive into Constructive for a couple of years now.

Roshonna knows that most folks don’t pick an Anger Management group course out of pleasant interest…like one might take a course on cake decorating or investing wisely or improving your swing.  Folks take this course cuz the courts mandate it after a first charge, or their “significant other” mandates it as a condition of the relationship continuing, or the employer mandates it as a condition of employment, or generally, that someone has told them it would be a very very good idea.

So…most that come, do so feeling a little sheepish, or a little humiliated, or just plain reluctant.  Not exactly an eager audience. But ordinary people who have had some trouble in their lives because of how others perceive them.  People…we all have anger.

However, Roshonna has this way about her…she’s engaging, easy-to-talk-to, friendly, easy-going, and a laugh that comes easily and loud.  She’s fun.

We do have a lot of folks who choose to take it because they want to work ahead of the game…they realize that anger is an issue, and want to get a handle on it before it might get them into trouble.  We have various professionals/students who take it as part of their professional development…and they leave feeling like it was tremendously helpful, not only for their job, but even moreso personally.

The course is respectful, and honors that anger expression is learned, and that the mistakes in the way folks express anger have, underneath, reasons that are compelling and understandable.  Inappropriate expressions of anger aren’t dismissed as inconsequential, but the course isn’t designed to have people feel worse.

The exit surveys of folks who have completed the course are stellar…folks have a lot more fun than they expected, and they learned a lot more useful stuff than they might have anticipated.

It ain’t so bad!
