Hump Day Nudge: Honesty and Integrity are Beautiful

Glen James has been added to my list of superheros.  Right up there with Superman and Batman.  A homeless man, he turned over a back pack with $41,000 of cash to the police without taking a penny.

He has values and integrity, and his faith says that it would have been theft to take anything from it, so he didn’t.

He did the right thing, just because it was the right thing.

Isn’t that beautiful?

Now, folks have since started a fund that will provide handsomely for Mr. James, and it has knocked the socks off of people how big that fund has grown. Some are critical of how big that fund is…now over $150,000, and whether it will be used effectively.

What I see in the size of that fund is that seeing someone choose honesty over easy jazzes people up in incredible ways.  We love to see people do the right thing even when it doesn’t make sense to do the right thing from a personal, selfish level.

We all feel a little more alive, a little more joy and have a little more hope when we know that people to right in this world, even at their own expense.

Because watching people do the right thing feels almost as good as doing the right thing.

Hmmm..something to think about.
