Hump Day Nudge: A teaching of love

“I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.” ― Mother Teresa poster

This Wednesday, as you take a break from a busy day and look at the Hump Day Nudge, I want you to focus on the love in this video, shown in obvious ways by a teacher to his students, a father to his son, and a son to his father.

Two things stand out for me:

  1. The love of a student for his teacher. The video was created by Zac Conkle, a 22 year old videographer student.  He made this video of his teacher, Mr. Wright.  Years after Mr. Wright had been his teacher, he continued to find himself unable to explain the teacher that meant so much to him.  This video is like a love letter to his teacher.
  2. The love of a father to his son…my favorite moment in this video is this crazy, fun moment of attunement at about 10:30 where father plays with son.  He follows son’s lead, and they engage in this simple moment of moment of rolling back and forth together. He is there for his son, and his son knows it.

Jeffrey Wright, through this video, teaches us all something about loving others…

  • loving expensively, even when it hurts,
  • loving generously, to students who make it tough and
  • loving creatively, with humour and imagination and silliness and intrigue and fun
  • loving consistently with all of who he is, in every area of his life in a way that invites others to see him authentically…allowing

…others to be inspired to loving lives.

Thanx for the lesson today, Mr. Wright.
