Evening counselling sessions work for people…lots of folks work during regular weekday office hours, and so it makes sense that when potential clients call for counselling, they want evening or weekend times for therapy. For many people, daytime sessions are just simply not an option.
So, we’ve responded to the shortage of evening sessions by expanding our services. Michael Quiring is increasing the number of hours he is working with us, and will now be working a couple of more evenings. These evening sessions will be offered at our Smith St. office.
Some folks are hesitant to schedule sessions downtown.
- Concern about parking…parking in the suburbs is less intimidating and so some avoid downtown because of parking anxiety.
- For the last year, I (Carolyn) have been working Mondays at our Smith St. office and have been pleasantly surprised at how parking isn’t an issue. There is metered parking on both sides of Smith Street. Even during rush hour, metered parking is available on the opposite side of Smith Street from where the office is. There are also numerous parking lots available to the public within a block of our office. Only once in the last year have I parked more than 1 block away (and that time it was 2 blocks away).
- They worry about safety. I get that. I want to be safe too. Everyone wants to be safe.
- The doors to the building at 143 Smith are locked at about 5:00 pm because the warm vestibule is just too tempting on cold winter days for those that are looking for a warm place to chill. We have a system tho, where, when you call us, we’ll meet you at the door, and bring you right into the office.
- In short, we think it’s going to work well.
It’s important to be able to make appointments when it works for you in your life. The 143 Smith (Smith at York) is open for business in the evenings!
Michael is excited about the prospect of working with more clients. He’s been counselling clients out of our offices for almost a year now. It has been fun, as a director, to watch him grow and develop his skills. Therapists come to us with a wealth of knowledge, but our clients teach us so much…and he has learned well.
One of the things I’ve noticed about the business of therapy is that clients vote with their feet. If they like what’s happening in session, and they have stuff to work on, they book another appointment. And then another one. And again.
If it’s not
- turning their crank,
- floating their boat, or
- itching where they scratch,
they smile politely on leaving and don’t return.
Michael’s schedule has been full…peoples’ feet say that they trust him, and feel like it’s a worthwhile use of their resources—time, money, and emotional investment—and they return to see him.
So it’s exciting that he has more openings with him working evenings at our Smith St. office.
Give our office a call if you would like therapy at a downtown location in the evenings.
