I went away this past weekend, and stayed with a friend’s sister. I met B once briefly, for about 5 minutes…and I was invited to stay at her home for 4 days. She had bright yellow flowers in the room where I stayed. A home made quilt on the bed, fresh towels on the rack. A hand made sign. And a little bag of the most delicious chocolates on the pillow.
For a virtual stranger.
Wow.
Who does that? B does.
I love to experience kindness. Heck…I love to witness kindness from anybody, to anybody.
One of the things I love about my job is listening to stories. Some of the stories are painful and difficult. And some of them knock my socks off…like I’m in bare feet afterwards, people!…with the way acts of kindness have been little lights in the darkness of the lives of clients.
Or, more amazing yet, my clients, in the midst of their own darkness, light up another person’s world with a kindness…and I hear about it in passing as horrendous tales of struggle are told.
Acts of kindness brighten our world in amazing ways. To see amazing stories of kindness click on the dots of the picture found here. Mebbe even add your story of kindness and light up a bulb on the wall in Richmond, Virginia. You’ve been kind…and light up the world by letting people know…the stories of how people have extended kindness and the delighted/relieved/surprised/pleased response of the recipient puts gas in my tank like little else does in this life.
Know that acts of kindness matter. Always.
